Whimsical Vase

With this vase I explore the transition from childhood, where everything around us was seen as a toy, to adulthood, where the objects we surround ourselves with are rarely toys.

As adults, we curate our spaces with countless objects, many of which lack a specific “function” — think vases, sculptures, or purely decorative items. Yet, somehow, toys and the functions of play and joy have been deemed unworthy of inclusion in our environments.

This vase attempts to challenge this notion. Positioned as an aesthetic piece, it competes with other decorative items in design and form. However, its sole true purpose is to encourage and celebrate the act of play.

Behind the scenes of the creation process.
